buried treasure

I can't believe I've only read two books this month. That's something new.
Seem as if there's too much going on to get enough spare time to hold a book in my hands to drown into literature. Sometimes I'm way too busy, sometimes it's because i've read much for college and sometimes I'm just dead tired and the only thing I want is to fall asleep.
To defend myself, i have to say i actually started to improve my reading habits again since I've access to the college's library ( which is an amazing thing, at leats for me :D).
Nick Hornby's "High Fidelity" is my little precious now.

gosh. I'm always so lazy never writing anything down here. I'm feeling really sorry but it's hard to get my ass up after a long day.
College has started on Monday and i have to admit that I really like it so far. Nice people (we're actually 3 german girls, an Italian and a French one, a German and a Polish boy) and great teachers. Nia who's half Indian half Welsh is LOVELY ( without exaggerating) and Charles is a real Englishman having very black and sarcastic humor (very British indeed).
One thing i really like's the fact that we're not a book based course but a topic based one. Nia does the "Life in the UK" part and Charles does "In the news" ( that's why we talked about globalization today; for the about the 1001th time in my intire school career...).
hm..yoa..tomorrow's going to be a loooong day out and a looong night ( maybe), we'll see.
AND I finally decided to apply for art (teaching9 at uni (which means tons of work ahead..yey^^)and English being the smaller problem (or hardly any in fact).

birthday-adventure-concert-shopping-etc.-day

What a great birthday!!
If someone had told me years ago that I would celebrate my 20th birthday at Bristol, listening and jumping around in the front row to the tunes of mando diao, I would have said he or she was crazy. But crazy things happen sometimes.

Steffi and I left on the 11.25 train to Bristol ( our day started witha delay, we actually wanted to take the train at 11 o'clock but we're already used to being a bit late...).
Having arrived in the 4th biggest city in the UK, we started our trip with exploring this new place, making our way over bridges and streets, little parks, over roundabouts etc. pp. until we finally reached what we had been looking for : The "shopping high street" :D
Our purses lost weight from shop to shop whilst our amrs had to suffer more and more under the weight of the rising amount of bags.
When we finally had enough ( at around 5ish) we seated our bums onto benches, with nice coffee and coke in our tortured hands.
18.30pm, time to collect our tickets from the venue. let's get the concert started. About 50 % 8at least) of the people who had come to be part of the crowd being singing and dancing to Mando Diao were Germans due to the fact that the band hasn't built up a real British fan community yet. The gig was amazing, great, sweaty, hot, vibrant... whatever. But we had a blast and a sparkling night.

Falling in love with your favorite song

"Break your happy home
learn to sing alone to the music, to the music
Clap your hands and shake
on a summer's day to the music, to the music..."

who got tickets for the concert?
who got tickets for the concert?
bristol, on saturday, it's birthday time and mando diao's playing. It could actually not be better.

"...Fill my glass I'm going now
To drink and smoke and laugh and shout."

Morgens, halb 9 in Southwest England

Everything is quiet. as quiet as only death should be.
You could hear the house's breath if there was one.
Silence everywhere.
And suddenly, there is this tiny little black thing popping through the door to my room. Molly.
Always awake when everyone else is still asleep. The boys have already gone to school, the rest was heading to work. So there is just me and the dog. Left in a big, massive, silent house.
"Oh Molly", I start thinking, "it's too early." I turn away from her but as she's not dumb, she keeps an scratching at my door.
Alright, you won. I get up, get dressed and take the lead oput of the cupboard. Molly is already jumping around. She knows what is going on; that we are going for a walk.
But she is right. The morning is the most beautiful part of the day. The sun has risen but has not reached the top yet. There is a chilliy but knidly breeze tumbling my hair. The first few hours are the best. no one else is awake. The streets are empty and we are alone. Just the two of us. in the woods. Through the fields.

Well, actually not that bad but three flat tires at once.

Any questions?

sign of life

As you can see, I am still alive and breathing ;)
The weather is so so. If there is the sun it won't last long til the rain finally takes away the last sunny days.
I've been to the college yesterday to do some kind of assessment to "define my english level" (quotation, the lady) which took me about 2 hours! But it was quite good and i did well; the only thing I needed was a "grammar revision" (quotation no.2, the lady)..our opinions might differ....but we'll see.
So I'm doing this L1 course to "revise some grammar"(quotation no. 3) now, starting on the 21st of September until 21st of June. And this whole thing costs me 485 pounds!! I swear if the course isn't worth it....
Anyway.
School started yestreday, did some driving and met for lunch with Sara, an aupair from Sweden.
Nothing really exciting happend, life continues and I have to continue hoovering now.
